About time..

July 31, 2009 at 8:08 am (Gaming, Programming) (, , , )

It’s about time it finally cooled off, the heat has been unbearable the last few days. With temperatures of 103 and 93, it’s been pretty miserable. Now the skies are cloudy again, and it looks like Washington (as it’s supposed to).

My friend has been over since Monday, and together we’ve beaten all four Left 4 Dead campaigns, gotten thoroughly owned at Nazi Zombies (round 5), and played over 150 games of Combat Arms.
Tomorrow I finally get back into my programming, and actually get more work done for Japanese. I just hope the power doesn’t go out, we’re expecting a thunderstorm…

Tribes

July 23, 2009 at 6:45 pm (Books) (, )

“We Need You to Lead Us.”

A book by Seth Godin, who also wrote Purple Cow and Meatball Sundae.
This book talks about leaders and tribes. It also talks about change.
Here are some things I got out of this book;
-Tribes aren’t limited by physical boundaries now, with the internet tribes can be spread across the world.
-Leading and managing are two completly different things.
-Nothing is “stable” and change will always happen.
-You don’t have to be at the top to lead.
-You can’t just grow, you need to desire change and stregthen comunication.
-Keeping the status quo won’t let you win.
-People don’t change because they fear what will happen,
-But initative leads to happiness.
-Being afraid to fail isn’t an excuse anymore. (You won’t know till you try.)
-Tightening the current members of a tribe is a better idea than making the tribe bigger.
-No two leaders are alike, but they all decide to lead. They aren’t afraid of change, they initiate it.
-Groups grow because people spread the word, not because the leader spreads the word.

Good moods

July 17, 2009 at 9:21 am (Gaming) (, , )

I’ve recently realized that when I’m in a good mood, I give out advice. Many people tend to find this annoying. Especially when It’s during a game of Combat Arms. I’ll kill someone, and say something useful.

Such as:
Kill one with a grenade – “Useful advice! Don’t walk into frags!”
Kill one with a sniper – “Find better cover!”
Kill one with a pistol/knife – “Pay better attention!”
Kill while they’re typing – “Don’t stop to chat!”
Kill them while camping – “Be less predictable!”
Any “Useful” tips that you give people (in a good mood or not)?

Just wanted to take a quick moment (At 11:35 pm) to say, Happy Fourth of July! It’s pretty late, but I was out all day, and being out ended with a bang. Literally! The fireworks show was spectacular here.

But anyway, hope you all had a great fourth of July!

Welcome to geek land!

July 2, 2009 at 6:29 pm (Other) (, , , )

I am now an official geek!

I sport, not only my blog, but a twitter and a facebook now! I’ve been told that my birth certificate came in a pocket protector, but I think it came in a video game instruction manual… Or at least with a free controller.
But anyway, feel free to take a look at my site, and know that I cannot make fun of geeks anymore.
