A Post with a Lack of a Title

November 17, 2011 at 12:31 pm (Rants!, School) (, , )

I’ve mentioned a few times that I need a spark of inspiration to write.

And, well, it seems that music helps.

Some calming music coupled with a bit of schoolwork that feels as if it’s going on forever and maybe a bit of self reflection thrown in as well.

Anyway, here you have what was originally a response to a short debate with a fellow student.

“I feel like the current school system is outdated and ineffective.

I understand that they want to give the youth a well rounded education to prepare them for any route that they wish to

take, but I feel like humans need to experience things for themselves. To learn what to do on their own.

Experience is the greatest way to learn, and it’s enjoyable as well.

No longer are we teaching kids to grow up and work in a factory. That’s the way we bring generalists about.

Our society needs specialists now.

After all, one person that can do well with computer maintenance is infinitely more useful than ten people that can do a single task repeatedly.”

And now, back to school.

The end of the world as we know it + Monday Night Combat

March 19, 2011 at 5:34 pm (Console Gaming, Gaming, PC Gaming, Rants!) (, , , , , , )

First off, Japan. We all know about it, it’s awful. But, all of my opinion have already been said by so many people, I will say nothing about it besides that it’s terrible and I wish them the best of luck in fully recovering. Oh, and this was already a huge concern with Nuclear power. We knew it could do this, but it was the best option at the time.

After watching the Good Morning America covering of the Rebecca Black hate, I have this to say: Whatever you do, people will hate you. The internet is like the Wild West was, lawless and full of terrible people (But also full of many great opportunities, brilliance, and teh lulz). She let the trolls get to her.

Internet Survival Rule #1: Ignore the trolls.

Rule #2: If they get to you, DO NOT admit it.

And lastly, Rule 3: Don’t, for the love of whatever deity you believe in, DON’T FEED THE FREAKIN’ TROLLS with responses.

This is a proven method to get more hatred, as seen by the Jessi Slaughter incident.

Follow the basic rules, and you will not be eaten alive.

Now then, with that out of the way, I will go on to a less rage induced rant and towards a normal tone of text.

Monday Night Combat (MNC).

Steam free weekend. I’ve played quite a few games of it so far, and despite not liking the concept at first, it’s a solid game. The single player isn’t to focus, obviously, so multi player is the true gem of this game. I like to call this game a mix of Team Fortress 2 and DotA.

MNC does a good job giving the game multiple unique play styles and good rewards of team work, though it does lack in depth and matches can be as short as a couple of minutes, which can be frustrating when the load times are moderately high. There are tons of titles to unlock for all you “collect-them-all” types as well.

Overall, I’d give it a 7/10. Really good game for $15 (On sale for $10 till Monday, go get it!), and it offers a lot of fun if you can get into a good server.

If you ever see “Steve From Shipping”, that’s me.

No I will not mention random people who ask me to in my blog posts. If you want to be talked about in a blog, go write your own. This is my blog, and I will write whatever I want in it.

They just won’t stop

August 18, 2009 at 12:51 pm (Other) (, , )

They never will.

The world’s population has been filled with ignorant people.
And a quote from someone on YouTube:

“No, Ive only been gaming since I was 6. what do I know?
When you say “third person game” to ANY gamer on the face of this planet, he is going to tell you third person shooter like quake, doom, CoD, etc.
go to google and type “third person game” and look at the first result, a wiki for 3rd person shooters. Look at the second result, it explains the definition as (and I quote):
“games that are played from a third person’s point of view”
So don’t patronize me you ignorant noob piece of sh1t”

End quote. Obviously this person has no idea what they’re talking about, my response to this: Epic Fail.

Please people, do yourselves a favor and not say stupid things. Know what you’re talking about.

There are plenty more examples that are simple to find. I’m not saying that I’m smarter than everyone, but I know I’m smarter than that.
