The end of the world as we know it + Monday Night Combat

First off, Japan. We all know about it, it’s awful. But, all of my opinion have already been said by so many people, I will say nothing about it besides that it’s terrible and I wish them the best of luck in fully recovering. Oh, and this was already a huge concern with Nuclear power. We knew it could do this, but it was the best option at the time.

After watching the Good Morning America covering of the Rebecca Black hate, I have this to say: Whatever you do, people will hate you. The internet is like the Wild West was, lawless and full of terrible people (But also full of many greatĀ opportunities, brilliance, and teh lulz). She let the trolls get to her.

Internet Survival Rule #1: Ignore the trolls.

Rule #2: If they get to you, DO NOT admit it.

And lastly, Rule 3: Don’t, for the love of whatever deity you believe in, DON’T FEED THE FREAKIN’ TROLLS with responses.

This is a proven method to get more hatred, as seen by the Jessi Slaughter incident.

Follow the basic rules, and you will not be eaten alive.

Now then, with that out of the way, I will go on to a less rage induced rant and towards a normal tone of text.

Monday Night Combat (MNC).

Steam free weekend. I’ve played quite a few games of it so far, and despite not liking the concept at first, it’s a solid game. The single player isn’t to focus, obviously, so multi player is the true gem of this game. I like to call this game a mix of Team Fortress 2 and DotA.

MNC does a good job giving the game multiple unique play styles and good rewards of team work, though it does lack in depth and matches can be as short as a couple of minutes, which can be frustrating when the load times are moderately high. There are tons of titles to unlock for all you “collect-them-all” types as well.

Overall, I’d give it a 7/10. Really good game for $15 (On sale for $10 till Monday, go get it!), and it offers a lot of fun if you can get into a good server.

If you ever see “Steve From Shipping”, that’s me.

No I will not mention random people who ask me to in my blog posts. If you want to be talked about in a blog, go write your own. This is my blog, and I will write whatever I want in it.

To catch up

August 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm (Books, School) (, , )

I know it’s been longer than a week since my last post, but with all that has been going on, I haven’t really thought about it.
The summer seems to be nearing the end. School starts back up in a few weeks, and I’m still not done with C++ or my books.
So far I’ve done four chapters of C++ coding. Fun, if not tedious (The effects of little errors and the need for exact punctuation and capitalization can be frustrating, or forgetting that one little tiny semi-colon).
Other than that I’ve done a lot of my Japanese work, and can recognize a few characters from Hirigana right off the bat. Though my speaking of it needs more work… Katakana is a whole other story.
I read The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks, the first book in the “Night Angel” Trilogy.
Great. Book.
Though I’m not a fan of the cliffhanger, I love the characters and the storyline.
I won’t spoil any of it, but I have to say many things were not expected.
I love the darker tone to the book, it’s a change from the classic fantasy types that I’ve read.
Next I’m going to read Treasure Island by Louis Stevenson.
Most people should know this book, and I’m pretty interested in what it has to offer.
