Medal of Honor

While it wasn’t as great as it was hyped, what game is?

Medal of Honor is a FPS game built on two engines by two studios. I will be focusing on the multiplayer, since most FPS games now revolve and live off of it.

Danger Close in tandem with DICE created MoH using the Unreal Engine 3 for the single player, and Frostbite for multiplayer.

To start off, I will say: MoH is a great game with a very well done campaign that tells a great story without trying to be “epic” *cough*moderwarfaretwo*cough*. I strongly disagree with Game Informer’s statement of the campaign being uninspired.

Now, multiplayer. When I first booted into the MP menu, I was ready to jump into the action and kill some people. I start into a “combat Mission” game. I spawned as a sniper, who only start with a 10 round battle rifle with a red dot, and start running towards the OPFOR base. Boom. I get killed by mortars. I spawn again, boom, again. And again, and again. I was really frustrated at that point, so I quit for the day.

The next day, I begin an “Objective Raid” game on the Collation side. Sniper, again. I run to some cover, shoot an enemy running past me, kill some more enemies. I felt great. No getting killed by mortars this game.

I have a love-hate relationship with MoH’s online game play. On one hand, the other team can spam you with mortars if you let them get too far ahead of you. On the other, it’s very satisfying to get an unaware enemy.

My verdicts:

Gameplay: 7/10, points of lag and textures not loading.

Sounds: 11/10, very realistic with echoes and cracks for bullets traveling.

Graphics: 9/10

Entertainment: 8/10

Total: 8.75/10

Gameplay: 8/10

Sounds: 10/10

Graphics: 9/10

Entertainment: 7/10, It’s a love hate relationship, leaning towards that third point called “like”.

Total: 8.5/10

Overall: 8.6/10
